A Deer-ey Affair

The Buckleys have just moved to Little Rock Creek from Japan. One day, Maria Buckley decided to invite her cousins, Buck, Juniper and Bonnie for supper.

"Whatever shall I cook?" pondered Maria.

"I know! I shall make some Japanese treats from my native Nara!", quipped Maria.

And so, off she went to the kitchen to prepare supper...

Washing the greens!

Maria skillfully slicing the salmon with a sharp knife (Careful!) while Freddie shreds the daikon or Raddish.

Boiling the vegetables, because no one wants E. coli! :)

Frying the tempura to a crisp golden brown, yum!

Heres, Freddie rolling the sushi while Maria boils the Green Tea.

Cleaning the table before placing the food!

Sylvanian Travels - JAPAN (Part Two)

Hello everyone! Its time for a second edition of Sylvanian Travels! In this edition, we take you to the Sylvanian Kitchen restaurant in Japan!

The Sylvanian Kitchens are based on the actual Sylvanian Kitchen building in the Japanese range. As of May 2011, there are five Sylvanian Kitchens in Japan, one in Fukuoka, three in the Greater Tokyo area and one at the Sylvanian Families theme Park in Grinpa. The one you'll see in this post is the Sylvanian Kitchen in Kichijōji, Tokyo which closed earlier this year in February.

Now, the food served at the restaurants are mostly a fusion of Western and Japanese cuisines with the usual Pizzas and Pastas along with Soups and Salads. However, I do recommend trying the Japanese Curry Rice (カレーライス) or the Naporitan(ナポリタン), both of which has its own unique and different taste from their conventional counterparts more commonly found elsewhere in the world! And for the hardcore Sylvanian fan, kids meals are also available in their usual kawaii kiddy portions!

The dinner menu at the restaurant.

Cold Corn Soup served at the restaurant!

Also, restaurants also differ from one another. For example, the Kitchen in Kichijōji was more of a typical dine-in while the Kitchen at Tokyo Bay is more of buffet style.

Of course, the food is just half of the experience you'll get at the Sylvanian Kitchen. While dining at the kitchen do keep out for the various displays and portraits that line the interior of the restaurant.

The Welcome mat at the entrance!

2010, marks the 10th Anniversary of the Sylvanian Kitchens since their interception in 2000.

A Sylvanian Kitchen within the Sylvanian Kitchen?

And dinner do go shopping the adjacent Sylvanian Market which sells both the JP range as well as the UK and US range. Up for grabs here are loads of special products from markers, keychains, stationery to loads of special JP Market specials!

Oodles and oodles of Sylvanian goodies!

Sylvanian Kitchen Pair
The Sylvanian Kitchen pair, available, only at the Sylvanian Kitchens and selected speciality stores, (2360円 each)

All in all, visiting the Sylvanian Kitchen is a great experience and definitely a must-go for any Sylvanian collector :) Budget wise, do plan about 1200-2000円 each person for meals and up to 10000円 for shopping! I, myself spent almost 10000円 in all.

This post dedicated to the countless number of victims of the recent Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami. To all of our Japanese readers and friends, our thoughts are with you during this difficult and trying period.

Sylvania-diorama!

Hey Everyone! It has been quite awhile since I last updated and I'm really sorry about that. As you can see, I've been a bit busy with my latest Sylvanian project, which involves creating this little picnic diorama!

A few weeks, I decided get a couple of these Candy toys from my friend Kiki's, online shop BeHappy!. Now, if you don't already know she is selling a huge joblot of Candy toys at heavily discounted prices!

Anyway, I did recieved my package yesterday from Kiki's yesterday with the two sets, I bought!

White Bear's Ice Cream Shop #3 by Megahouse

French Treats and Snacks #3 by Rement

As for the display case, I got it for a mere SGD$2(About GBP£1) at a Japanese dollar store called Daiso. As for the green felt used for the bushes and grass, they purcashed from Spotlight, a craft shop. The little sign at the back and cooler box were handmade by me using ordinary Popsicle sticks, glue and paints.

A picnic fit for a king?

Contrary to popular belief, one need not spend a small fortune or a great deal of time creating such dioramas. Below is my total expenditure for creating this diorama, which took me about a Saturday afternoon worth to complete, excluding the time waiting for the package!

Re-Ment and Megahouse Items - SGD$11.95 (Including Postage)
Display Case - SGD$2.00
Green Felt (One piece) - SGD$1.95
Popsicle Sticks - SGD$1.50 for a pack of 100
Babblebrook Rabbit and Evergreen Bear Figures - 298円 (About SGD$4.45)

Total Expenditure: SGD$21.85 (About GBP£10.70)

In & Around Little Rock Creek: Lunch at the Brunch Stand!

Recently, a new fast food restaurant has opened in Little Rock Creek, attracting swarms of hungry Sylvanians. So what is their secret? Theodore Tear-Drop of the Little Rock Times finds out,

"Well, I make my specialties from only the freshest produce in Sylvania which I get delieved by Rocky Babblebrook's Sylvanian Market every morning at seven!", said Mr. Kenneth Furbanks, owner of the Brunch Stand.

"Cooking is our family's favourite pastime!" exclaimed Greta, Kenneth's daughter. "Today, I'm helping daddy cook the flap-jacks while Doug is in charge of the fries with Mother manning her famous Chilli on the stove!"

"After we send the kids to school, Kenny and I start laying out the food in time for the lunchtime crowd", said Emma, Kenneth's wife of 12 years!

"I love it! I come here everyday after school just for the pancakes", said a hungry Radish Dappledawn as he tucked into his piping hot serving of pancakes.
"Uncle Kenny always reserves me a seat everyday, he knows I absolutely adore his Strawberry ice cream!" giggled Andromeda Pettie.

More happy diners at the Brunch Stand!

Brunch Stand is located at the junction of Pebble Lane and Reed Avenue, next to the Little Rock Creek Town Hall.
